The SCYSA relies on parents and community volunteers to coach our youth teams. If you would like to volunteer, please fill indicate your volunteer task on your child's registration or email coastsoccer@gmail.com.

Coach Development

The SCYSA will be hosting the below CSA/BCSA courses for all coaches at the start of the 2024/25 soccer season. If you have previously taken the applicable coaching course, you do not need to retake it.

Canada Soccer has made coach education more accessible by dividing the courses into two parts: Canada Soccer Association (CSA) Part 1: Theory Component, and British Columbia Soccer Association (BCSA) Part 2: On-Field Component. The Theory Component, can be taken online at any time but needs to be finished by August 15, 2024 to ensure time to register for the On-Field Component. SCYSA will host the On-Field Component at the beginning of the soccer season as per the dates below.

Steps to become a coach with scysa:

Fill out Volunteer form (above)
All Head & Assistant coaches must submit a CRC. If we have not reached out to you, please email coastsoccer@gmail.com and we will send you the form. You must have a clearance letter prior to us being able to assign you to a team.

Coach selection:

In cases where we have more coach volunteers than needed, Coaches that have the below criteria complete will be selected first.

1. CRC on file

2. Applicable Coaching Course complete

We also take into consideration coaches that have experience, and those who have positive feedback from players, parents, other coaches & the SCYSA Technical team.
